She auditioned for the roles of Counselor Deanna Troi and Lt. Tasha Yar in Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) before Marina Sirtis and Denise Crosby were cast respectively. She was later a front runner for Captain Kathryn Janeway and Seven of Nine in Star Trek: Voyager (1995) and the Borg Queen in Star Trek: First Contact (1996) but Kate Mulgrew, Jeri Ryan and Alice Krige were cast in these roles.
As a parallel to one of her acting auditions, Susan was the sixth of eight children, not quite seven of nine. If there had been another older sibling, she would have been seven of nine children. Likewise, when she auditioned for the role of Seven of Nine on Star Trek: Voyager (1995), she did not get the part- it instead went to Jeri Ryan.
Has lived in Webster, New York since 2004.
Auditioned for the role of Captain Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager (1995) but was rejected because they felt she was too young.
Was the original choice for the role of Seven of Nine on Star Trek: Voyager (1995). Producer Rick Berman decided to hire Jeri Ryan instead since she embodied the "bombshell" image.
