On November 4, 1970, Bethenny Frankel, an American entrepreneur, television personality, philanthropist, and author, was born. The sole child of Robert J. Frankel and Bernadette Birk, an interior designer, is Frankel. Her father was German-Jewish, and her mother was a Roman Catholic from Wales. Frankel’s father abandoned her mother when she was four years old.
Her mother wed the Italian-born, Roman Catholic horse trainer John Parisella when she was five years old. Frankel remembers having a difficult background. Frankel claimed that her mother “was generally drinking” and that she routinely engaged in violent altercations with her stepfather.
She appeared in eight of the show’s thirteen seasons starting in 2008 and played a significant role in The Real Housewives of New York City on Bravo. Prior to this, she placed second in the NBC reality competition series The Apprentice: Martha Stewart’s 2005 season.
She then rose to fame as the host of a number of her own programs, including the FOX daytime talk show Bethenny (2013–2014), the Bravo spin-offs Bethenny Ever After (2010–2012) and many others.
In addition to her career in reality television, Frankel founded the lifestyle firm Skinnygirl and the disaster relief program BStrong. She has also authored four self-help books.
